Adelaide Fringe 2015

The build up to Mad March in Adelaide has once again kicked off with the launch of the Adelaide Fringe Poster for the upcoming year. Over the weekend the winner was announced and, as always, this year’s result is a real eye opener (pun intended).

This years poster competition theme ‘Experience Something New’ attracted entries from all over the world, however, the winner was from our own backyard. The retro one-eyed, moustached, feathered Shako wearing monster was the brainchild of Adelaide-based illustrator and theatre designer Jonathon Oxlade and Melbourne-based designer Chris More. Mr Oxlade mentioned he took inspiration from the 1970s children’s television show H.R. Pufnstuf, whose main character was a colourful yellow puppet.

As always the poster is met with mixed reviews but we should anticipate another roaring success in terms of branding distribution Adelaide-wide and consequent event attendance. Also, expect to see a great deal more bright yellow around the streets of Adelaide compared to the blues and reds of this year’s event.
