Pantone 2017 Colour of the Year

Pantone Colour of the Year 2017 Greenery

It’s about to get a whole lot easier being green. Pantone has just announced that the lime green shade ‘Greenery’ (also known as the much less catchy Pantone 15-0343) is the colour of the year for 2017.

Pantone Colour Greenery

After last years muted tones of Rose Quartz and Serenity, this year’s offering is quite unexpected; bringing a refreshing and vibrant colour to the fore. For many, 2016 was a ‘muted’ year of moderation and disappointment, so here’s hoping, like the name Greenery suggests, 2017 is a much-needed year of growth and restoration.

Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalise, Greenery symbolises the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute

The colour green, particularly in this shade, is commonly linked with nature so we expect to see businesses leapfrog off the back of this announcement and update their branding colour palettes; in an effort to be seen as environmentally conscious. On top of this expected corporate influx, we’re already anticipating a slather of green, albeit not the same hue, in February when the 2017 Adelaide Fringe hits town.
